Autobiography
I am kind. I am patient. I am chill. I am picky. I am caring. I am real.
It was an early autumn morning in Wolf Creek, Wisconsin when my mom began to get the signs that it was time to go. My parents grabbed my sister as they rushed to the car to go to the hospital. On their way down the long windy road an owl appeared out of the Forrest. It flew by the cars side for 50 meters and then left. My parents had never experienced anything like it in their life. It was so strange and unusual they didn't know what it meant, finding out later in life that my first word came to be owl. After they had arrived at the hospital my mom stayed in labor with me for three long days and two sleepless nights; until finally on September 12th, 1996 at 1:12 p.m I was brought into this world. My mom relieved that it was over and my sister ecstatic that I was a girl, this was the beginning of my life.
My parents are two very different people that are unlike any I have met or could compare to. My fathers name is Robert Reed and he grew up outside of Des Moines, Iowa. He had a large family with three sister and one brother. My dad has had many life experiences and is lucky to be alive today. Both of my parents have been recovering addicts for over 20 years and work at Jaywalker Lodge. My dad is always trying to help other people not only at work but around world too. He donates to organizations and goes on several trips to do what he can to help like flood relief in Iowa, building house in New Orleans from the hurricane and traveling to Native American reservations. My father has taught me to always help others and never take what I have for granted. My mothers name is Lois Porcelain and she grew up in a family of 5 in Manhattan, New York. Like my father my mom has been through a lot in life and could be the reasons as to why she's not much of a dare devil today. My mom is cool and collected, along with being very caring and always willing to listen and help with people's problems. She has taught me how to handle situations, there is always an answer to a problem even if it's hard to find. My parents are extraordinary people and I have been lucky to be in their family.
My sisters name is Andrea Porcelain. She is a very outspoken person that is determined to get what she wants. Being six years apart we did not get along when we were younger. We would fight, hit each other the whole 9 yards, but as we grew older and she moved out we began to get along. I can now say that her and I are very close. My sister has had one roller coaster of a life but that's never knocked her down, she's always been positive and found someway to get herself back on track. She has influenced my life in so many ways and taught me that if something doesn't work that's okay try something different and if you don't think it's going to work you make it work.
I've faced several hard decisions, them turning out good or bad they have set my life on the track it needs to go. One pivotal moment in my life occurred during middle school. I thought I was ready to go into high school but no one else thought that I should go. They thought it was unfair and be best for me stay another year. Although several people disagreed with my decision, I know what's best for myself and chose to move forward with my decision. Another pivotal moment in my life was when I made the choice to move to my current high school Yampah Mountain high school. I had grown tired of my previous high school and felt I was learning anything that served my interest. I have much more freedom now to learn whatever I want. Since I have moved schools I have found my interest in what I would like to do in life and learned skills that can help me prosper in life.
Sometimes we laugh so hard we cry and other times we cry until something can make us smile. Either way we all have been there, our struggles and our best moments make us who we are today. There are things that make me happiest in life like my friends, hot showers, the smell of flowers in the morning, the sound of rain, hearing people laugh, kids that are happy, feeling the sunshine leak into my skin, when somebody wants to talk to me, the perfect cloud, dank food, watching nba basketball, celebrations, the night sky, stars and planets. Then there are things life hands us that are not so great but we must deal with. Some of the saddest things life has to offer is death, death of a family member or friends, dead flowers, sad songs, when people talk behind my back, when I can't be trusted, being hungry,
We all have things were great at and some things that we could fix. I am good at listening and trying to help people with their problems. I will give what advice i can and try to make them smile. I'm good at baking almost anything, if you have a sweet tooth, I’ve got the fix. I'm not very good at talking. I stumble over my words as it is so when I talk to strangers or in front of a large group of people it's a mess. I may be good at giving advice but I'm not very good at taking it or my own. I see a whole world filled with people, good or bad i can find something beautiful about them but never myself. I love when people express themselves and tell the truth with who they are, but when it comes to me I find it hard to be open. There's many things I need to continue to grow with but all I can do is take it day by day and hope I get better.
Our world is filled with many different beliefs, I do not have one that I completely fall under. I am Jewish, but was taught that i can believe in whatever I please. I take the values out of whatever religion that i think are most important and add it into my own. For me I believe that everything is a god of its own, it has its own spirit. There is a ocean spirit, a moon spirit, a spirit of the river and a spirit of the sky, etc. With everything being its own god, the gods can connect and this is how we maintain balance in the world.
Beauty to me is imperfection. This is something you can find in everyone and everything. Imperfection is not a bad thing although it is looked down upon in society, to me it makes us who we are. Nature is the perfect example of imperfections a dent in a rock, the ends of a blade of grass, chips in wood, they way a wave is shaped. As I look closer at each single detail it does not seem as beautiful as it was from afar, but it is something of its own. And that is beauty too.
Friendship is honesty. If someone starts off our friendship as a lie, I won't trust them later on down the road. Friendship is trust you have that what your friend does with their life is okay and believe that it is the truth. Without truth in a friendship, the friendship was built off of lies and assumptions which is a fake friend. To have friendship all you need is honesty, truth and trust. A home is warm, calm and comforting. There is no worries, it's total relaxation mode. A home is where you can let yourself go and the walls that surround you know you better than anyone ever could. The walls have seen your true colors, every emotion compact into the wall and this is why it bleeds paint for us. Because a home is not a home until we have lived in it.
A parent should always let a child have their freedom. If you keep them away from all the bad out there, they are going to find it for themselves eventually. Not only let the child be free to do what they want but say what they say too. They may be parents and have authority over their child but the child has a voice too. Parents should always have acceptance. Acceptance to who their child is, what they want to do and never stop they from doing anything in life.Lastly a parent should always be there. Parents may be there to give us food and shelter but sometimes there is a lack in support. Support them with their decisions, when they feel down and when no one else will.
To ensure future happiness for myself I need to make money. I know this may seem like a very shallow statement but it is also true. I want to be able to live life knowing that I can support myself and loved ones without having to worry. Also I need to try accept myself for who I am. I do, but some days it can be hard. Day by day I take it to get better and find out something new about myself to use to my advantage.
To be successful I believe that you have to love what you're doing. It's not about how much money you have, although money can be a perk it's not always a good thing. Success is about being rich in life; loving where your path has taken you, the people you've met and spent it with. To my definition of success I believe I have succeeded with it and can become more successful.
I am thankful for all the people that have came in and out of my life, good or bad they have all taught me something different. I am thankful for the rising sun and the falling moon. I am thankful for having a car, a house or a home. I am thankful for the majestic sunrises and sunsets mother nature gives us. I am thankful for the oceans waves and the morning rain. I am thankful for the trees and flowers. I am thankful for water and oxygen for giving me life. I am thankful for the gym. I am thankful for chocolate. I am thankful for the sunshine i can feel on my skin. I am thankful for my bed. I am thankful for the shapes of mushrooms. I am thankful for budding buds. I am thankful for knowledge. I am thankful for the ability to learn. I am thankful for hiking, not just hiking but the views while climbing over rocks as well.
